Boston Hit ‘Trad’ Comes to Gloucester Stage

Gloucester Stage presents the Tir Na Theatre production of Trad from September 2 through September 12. A hit in Boston, Trad is the hilarious fable of hundred year old Thomas and his improbably ancient Dad. When Thomas reveals that he once fathered a son in a long ago fling, the pair sets off across the Irish countryside to find the child, with nothing more than a hobble and a limp to help them. The critically acclaimed original Boston director, Carmel O’Reilly and original Boston cast of actors: Rockport resident Nancy E. Carroll, Colin Hamell and Billy Meleady reunite to reprise their roles in Gloucester. According to Gloucester Stage Artistic Director Eric C. Engel, ” Seeing Tir Na’s magical rendition of Trad was one of the most rewarding theater experiences I have had in a long time. When I learned that the show was unable to extend its run at the BCA and that people were unable to secure tickets for the show, I thought “Why not bring it up to Gloucester?” Especially since the cast includes our own Nancy Carroll.”
