Broadway Unplugged! features show stopping numbers from most of the well known traditional and new black musicals from Broadway and Off Broadway, including selections from Dreamgirls, Five Guys Named Moe, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Porgy & Bess, The Wiz, The Lion King, The Color Purple and others. The concert will be presented in the intimate confines of Tommy Doyle’s – formerly the House of Blues – at 96 Winthrop St in Cambridge.
Gordon Michaels has an amazing list of credits including nine (9) tours of the musical Ain’t Misbehavin’, as well as tours of The Civil War and Smokey Joe’s Café. He has been nominated twice for Best Male Rhythm & Blues and Best Male Gospel vocalist by the Boston Music Awards (1993 & 1995). Winner of Boston’s first Silver Note singing contest in 2000 He just recently was named the Boston 2009 Winner of the David Foster/NameDrop.com singing competition. He created and hosted the popular Gospel Brunch at the original House of Blues in Cambridge, MA. For the last six years, Mr. Michaels has been performing his own one man cabaret shows to rave reviews both locally, and across the country.
