‘A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline’ comes to John Hancock Hall

A country music legend whose life was cut tragically short comes to life in the hit musical, A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline, playing at John Hancock Hall for two weeks only, Wednesday April 7 through Saturday, April 17. Starring award-winning Bridget Beirne as Patsy, the production features over 20 of Patsy’s hits performed live, including “Walkin’ After Midnight,” “Sweet Dreams,” and “Crazy.” Press night is scheduled for Wednesday, April 7 at 7 PM.

A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline is a tribute to Miss Cline’s spirit and a celebration of the music of her life. The story follows Patsy Cline’s climb to stardom from her hometown in Virginia to the Grand Ole Opry, Las Vegas, and Carnegie Hall. Audiences will fall in love with Patsy all over again, laugh with the comedy of Little Big, the DJ who plays Patsy’s biggest fan, and rock to the tunes of the stellar band.

Originally created in 1991 by Dean Reagan, the production is directed by Tom Frey, who also plays Little Big Man. This Patsy Cline Estate approved production is presented in Boston by Fiddlehead Theatre.

Bridget Beirne received the Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Musical Performance for her work in the SpeakEasy Stage Company production of Violet, and IRNE Award nominations for her work in Parade (SpeakEasy Stage), Funny Girl and My Fair Lady (Fiddlehead Theatre). She has performed in numerous off Broadway productions, including at the York Theatre, NY Fringe Festival, and Symphony Space; and at numerous regional theatres, including the Goodspeed Norma Terris Theatre, the Cape Playhouse, Fiddlehead Theatre, Worcester Foothills and American Stage Festival.

He now directs the show throughout the United States, including productions at the Cape Playhouse, the Colony Theatre, and the Little Theatre on the Square. As an actor, Tom has been seen in productions at the Cleveland Playhouse, Pittsburgh Public Theatre; among others. And has music directed Smokey Joe’s Café and Beehive at the Cape Playhouse, as well as a second production of Beehive at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre.

Dean Regan created A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline in Vancouver, B.C. and the show instantly became a sold out hit that toured across Canada. A nine-month run at the Charles Playhouse in Boston, Massachusetts was the first U.S. exposure for A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline. The show subsequently did 2 U.S national tours, enjoyed an award-winning 30+ week run at the 4000 seat Grand Palace Theatre in Branson, MO and has been produced by over 100 theatre companies throughout North America.
