Lyric Stage Company presents ‘Legacy of Light’

Following the four most successful and highest-attended seasons in its 35-year history, The Lyric Stage Company of Boston announces the fifth production of the 2009-2010 Season: Karen Zacarias’ intriguing new story of love, family and scientific discovery, Legacy of Light. Directed by Lois Roach, Legacy of Light runs February 12 through March 13, 2010 at The Lyric Stage Company with both afternoon and evening performances. During the Age of Enlightenment, as Sir Isaac Newton was watching apples fall, another brilliant physicist, Émilie du Châtelet finds herself with child. At 42, fearing she will die in childbirth, she races to complete her research and leave her legacy. Meanwhile, present day scientist Olivia, unable to conceive and wondering what she will sacrifice for motherhood, arranges for a surrogate, who pulls together past and present in a stellar collision.

The Lyric’s production of Legacy of Light features a talented cast including Diego Arciniegas, Allan Mayo, Jr., Sarah Newhouse, Susanne Nitter, Rosalie Norris, and Jonathan Popp.

The Legacy of Light creative team, led by director Lois Roach, includes Janie E. Howland (scenic designer), Charles Schoonmaker (costume designer), Scott Clyve (lighting designer), and Arshan Gailus (sound designer). The production manager is Nerys Powell, and the assistant stage manager is Cat M. Dunham.
