On Tuesday, May 12, 2009, New Repertory Theatre will hold its 25th Anniversary Gala Fundraiser—an exciting evening of memorable scenes and songs from seasons past, including A Streetcar Named Desire, The Clean House, The Threepenny Opera, Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, and Ragtime. The performance will feature some of your favorite New Rep artists. There will also be a fond farewell tribute to outgoing Producing Artistic Director Rick Lombardo.
Along with the performance and farewell tribute, there will be both a live and silent auction of items ranging from a baseball signed by Kevin Youkilis to two tickets to the hottest show on Broadway, Billy Elliot: The Musical, with a behind-the-scenes tour given by Gregory Jbara; a raffle to win $1,000 worth of gift certificates to some of the area’s most fashionable restaurants; an elegant cocktail reception and exclusive pre-gala dinner with limited seating at the Commander’s Mansion in Watertown; and a scrumptious dessert reception that will conclude the evening’s festivities. The pre-dinner cocktail reception begins at 5:45 PM, the gala performance and live auction begins at 8:00 PM and will be followed by a dessert reception. All proceeds will support New Rep’s educational and artistic programming.
Tickets to the Gala Dinner and Performance are $250 each, and tickets to the Gala Performance are only $75 each. To reserve tickets, call 617.923.8487, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
“Celebrating New Rep’s 25th Anniversary is a remarkable milestone,” said Michael McCay, Chairman of the Board of New Repertory Theatre. “For 25 years New Rep has produced plays that speak powerfully to the essential ideas of our times, expanded and challenged the human spirit of both artists and audience, and had a lasting impact on over 100,000 school children that it has served through its strong education and outreach programming.”
Mr. McCay adds “At New Rep’s 25th Anniversary Gala, we will commemorate all of New Rep’s accomplishments; pay tribute to outgoing Producing Artistic Director Rick Lombardo; and look forward towards New Rep’s future as we begin a new chapter under the strong leadership of Harriet Sheets, New Rep’s Managing Director, and Kate Warner, New Rep’s incoming Artistic Director.”
“I am really looking forward to New Rep’s 25th Anniversary Gala,” said Harriet Sheets, Managing Director of New Rep. “The evening will be filled with favorite songs and scenes from the past 25 years. New York actors, such as Todd Alan Johnson, Evan Harrington, and Veronica J. Kuehn will be returning to New Rep’s stage with local favorites, including Leigh Barrett, Nancy E. Carroll, and Will Lyman. It is sure to be an unforgettable evening.”
